NEWS

Chris Gayle's epic knock of 215 against Zimbabwe is the highest innings scored in the World Cup and eclipses the 30-year-old score of 189* by Sir Vivian Richards to now be the highest ODI innings by a West Indian.

It is the 5th ODI double-centuty and first scored outside India, also the first by a player who is not Indian. Gayle's partnership of 372 with Marlon Samuels is the highest in ODIs.

His 16 sixes equals the record, while during his innings he passed 9000 career ODI runs, joining Brian Lara as the only West Indians to reach this milestone.

Tim Southee takes 7-33 and destroys England in their World Cup tie: the best ODI figures by a New Zealander, 3rd best in the World Cup and the 6th best of all time. (List)

Hamilton Masakadza scores his 4000th run in ODIs.

(15/2) JP Duminy and Dave Miller share a partnership of 256* against Zimbabwe - the highest ever South African partnership at the ICC World Cup, highest for the 5th wicket and 3rd highest overall.

(14/2) Another milestone for Sangakkara as he passes Ricky Ponting to become the 2nd highest ODI run scorer (List), while also compiling 1000 runs in World Cup matches.
